Alumni
Since its' founding in 1740, over 11,000 boys have experienced the support and compassion that drives the mission of Bethesda. "Bethesda boys" have gone on to play prominent roles throughout Savannah and the nation, including leadership positions at some of America's most storied institutions such as Coca-Cola, NBC News, and numerous positions of responsibility in our nation's armed forces, churches, and business interests. Today, Bethesda youth dot college campuses across our state and nation, along other alumni that are young entrepreneurs who are raising families and growing businesses.
The Bethesda Alumni Association was established by Tom Moore in the 1950's, as a means of connecting the boys of the past with the current needs of the institution. Today, this active group of former residents and students contribute resources to Bethesda athletics and offer support on numerous campus projects, including the presentation of Bibles at each commencement ceremony in the spring. To learn more about the Bethesda Alumni Association, former youth may wish to contact Mr. Bill McIlrath, Jr., Alumni President at mcilrathbandb@aol.com.
The signature event for the alumni of Bethesda occurs each April with the annual anniversary celebration. The day kicks off with a spirited game of softball between the boys of yesterday with the students of today. A traditional anniversary meal follows the game, and the annual awards celebration at the Whitefield Memorial Chapel is a "can't miss" opportunity for the alumni to relive how it once was to be sitting in anticipation of who would win the major awards for the year. The anniversary celebration ends with the Alumni Banquet on Saturday evening. The Anniversary celebration is scheduled for April 25th, 2009.
